The CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program (EFP) is accepting applications for the 2026 class (estimated start date August 2026). Those that participate in the EFP learn evaluation skills while working in their host program to build, expand, and/or improve evaluation activities across the agency. The fellowship is intended to be a two-year program, with the second year being contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Participating in CDC’s Evaluation Fellowship includes these benefits:
- Exposure to world-class evaluators and public health professionals who work at and visit CDC.
- A view of the public health system from the federal level, working in various disease and prevention areas.
- A strong cohort of Evaluation Fellows and an evaluation community of practice from whom Fellows can learn and obtain feedback.
- Strong program oversight and management from the Division of Workforce Development.
- Recognition through the highly respected branding of the CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program.
- Access to limited-duration evaluation projects outside the host program that increase the Fellow’s visibility and exposure across CDC and provide opportunities to learn and apply skills in topic areas that the Fellow might not otherwise have.
Master’s and Doctoral Fellows are placed in host programs across the agency working on program evaluation activities. In this experiential learning model, fellows learn evaluation skills working in their host program while helping their host program build, expand, and/or improve their evaluation activities.
Successful applicants’ range in their level of experience (e.g., from capstone projects in school, working in non-profit, to experience leading evaluation at larger institutions). Successful applicants have demonstrated experience with at least three evaluation projects through their application and CVs.
